The 100 ED APO is an APM development to produce a true Apochromatic binocular without false colour and excellent spherical correction. This new versions sees the original FK61 ED glass replaced with FCD100, a glass similar in properties to FPL-53. This provides the APM 100mm ED-APO with further improved colour and spherical aberration correction for even better contrast and sharpness.
Its performance mirrors that of a real 100mm Super ED Doublet Apo but with greater light gathering capacity. Featuring the newest broadband multi-coating technology, the 100 ED APO splits double stars with ease and provides detailed planetary views. Add a pair of white light solar filters and you will experience outstanding 3D like views of the Sun.
As standard it accepts 1.25" eyepieces via its twin self-centering eyepiece clamps mounted to independent helical focusers. The Binoculars are supplied with a pair of excellent 18mm UFF (Ultra Flat Field) eyepieces as standard and is compatible with our other binocular eyepieces.
The 100 ED APO Binocular has also been made practical. They are magnesium bodied for lightweight with extendable dew shields. Finally the useful carrying handle incorporates a mounting point for a finder bracket. A premium quality metal bodied red dot finder is also available for use with the binoculars as an optional extra. The binoculars feature a 3/8" mounting for which a 1/4” adapter is also supplied. An integrated handle make for a compact easy to transport observing system with superb optical performance. Before shipping each APM APO Binocular is optical bench aligned to a minimum 100x magnification. Before shipping to a customer we visually test each pair and supply them with a QC report.
Only APM optical bench align each pair to 100x magnification to ensure they perform at their very best. This is an important factor to consider when choosing binoculars capable of higher magnifications. Factory alignment can be very approximate and inconsistant. APM and ourselves have learnt this! Therefore we hand align each pair of binoculars to ensure that our customers get the most out of their purchase.
