The APM 100 Semi-APO is a development of the popular APM developed 100 ED APO Binoculars. It retains the same mechanical design but instead of the 100 APO's ED glass based lens cells, it uses a more conventional Achromat lens cell which helps to reduce the costs significantly. Compared to other giant binoculars the APM 100 Semi-APO's benefit from APM's development and have impressive colour correction for an Achromat.
As standard the binoculars accept 1.25" eyepieces via twin self-centering eyepiece clamps mounted to independent helical focusers. The Binoculars are supplied with a pair of 18mm 65° SWA eyepieces as standard. When used with a premium eyepiece like Tele Vue’s Panoptic 24mm, the maximum performance of the design can be fully realised.
The 100 Semi-APO Binocular has also been made practical. They are magnesium bodied for lightweight with extendable dew shields. Finally the useful carrying handle incorporates a mounting point for a finder bracket. A premium quality metal bodied red dot finder is also available for use with the binoculars as an optional extra. The binoculars feature a 3/8" mounting for which a 1/4” adapter is also supplied. An integrated handle make for a compact easy to transport observing system.
Before shipping each APO Binocular is optical bench aligned to 100x magnification. Before shipping we individually test each pair and supply them with a QC report.
This binocular, while a development of the high performance APM 100 ED-APO is not unique to APM and may be seen with other brand names. However only APM optical bench align each pair to 100x magnification to ensure they perform at their very best. This is an important factor to consider when choosing binoculars capable of higher magnifications. Factory alignment can be very approximate and inconsistant. APM and ourselves have learnt this! Therefore we hand align each pair of binoculars to ensure that our customers get the most out of their purchase. In addition to the standard 2 year warranty we also offer an additional 3 year mechanical warranty in the UK once the purchase is registered on the apm-telescopes.co.uk website.
